Cyclical maintenance

Any active process undertaken to maximise the useful life of archival material which is repeated on a periodic basis.

Cyclical maintenance encompasses periodic inspection, testing for conditions such as vinegar syndrome, or treatments such as re-winding or replacement of packaging materials.

The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia acknowledges Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live and gives respect to their Elders both past and present.
