
Thousands of classic European film stills and portraits from the beginning of cinema to the 1930s are now preserved at the NFSA.
A postwar migrant from Austria, Hans Joseph Carlsson Taussig (1907-1989) developed the collection during his early career in film and journalism in Europe. Hans Taussig donated his collection of early film-related photographs to the National Film Library, the forerunner to the NFSA, more than 60 years ago.
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia acknowledges Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live and gives respect to their Elders both past and present.
