
The degree of density difference between tones in an image or the ratio between the maximum and minimum brightness values.
A high contrast image will have deep or intense blacks and detailed or spectral whites which may or may not include a full range of middle value tones. A low contrast image is generally an image with all its tones placed in the short middle values and may only contain various shades of grey.
