NFSA Staff Screening of WINHANGANHA and Q&A Discussion with Jazz Money
All staff are invited to this special screening of a major new work, WINHANGANHA (Wiradjuri language: Remember, know, think). The finished film is a lyrical journey of archival footage and sound, poetry and original composition. It is an examination of how archives and the legacies of collection affect First Nations people and wider Australia, told through the lens of acclaimed Wiradjuri artist, Jazz Money accompanied by an original score from Filipino-Aboriginal rapper, DOBBY.
Over 35 NFSA staff were involved in the production of the work across Executive, Curatorial and Accessioning, Rights and Licensing, Collection Digitisation, Marketing and Communications, Public Programs, Finance, Governance, Digital and Legal and Procurement.
We are delighted to have Jazz with us, to discuss the film, following the screening.

Open House: New Conservation and Film Services Area
Conservation and Film Services are throwing open their doors from 2:30-3:30pm on Wednesday afternoon. Previously used for film preservation/processing and engineering workshop activities, the ground floor space has been totally renewed to house the Conservation team, new audio suites, post-production suites, remastering suite and film scanning work areas. Come and have a wander through the space and enjoy a quick show and tell from specialist staff about the new facilities and capabilities the AVA funding has provided.
Acton Tape Library Tours
Earlier this year the NFSA upgraded the Acton tape library to hold almost 5,000 tapes, more than enough to host the whole collection. Now complete, the team is working on the new offsite data centre tape library. This tour will take staff into the Acton Data Centre and is a unique opportunity to see the tape library in action, learn about its unique capacity, and hear how it connects to the renewed film services spaces and the new scanner. The upgrade to the tape library has been made possible by the AVA funding.
Given the size of the space, tours will be limited to five people per session and you will need to book a space to attend one of these sessions. Sessions will run for 10 mins. Tour meeting place is in front of the Ngunnawal Meeting Room, Level 1 Acton Annex.
