Journalist Arthur Slade (Christian Bale) delves into the life and work of 1970s glam star Brian Slade (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), who faked his death and vanished from the spotlight 10 years earlier. Arthur reflects on his own sexuality and glam rock experience as he interviews his subject’s friends, enemies and associates and seeks out American rocker Curt Wild (Ewan McGregor) – one of Brian’s significant influences. Nominated for the prestigious Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, Velvet Goldmine brings together a myriad of glittering layers, vignettes and cultural references.
