Persepolis is a stunning, black-and-white animated adaptation of Marjane Satrapi’s bestselling autobiographical graphic novels. This coming-of-age story follows a young girl who grows up during the Iranian Revolution, capturing the journey from childhood to maturity against a backdrop of political turmoil and conflict.

This critically acclaimed biographical drama won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards.

‘…a small landmark in feature animation… it translates a sensitive, introspective, true-to-life "adult" comic story into moving pictures’ – Village Voice

This is the Australian premiere screening of the newly restored 4K version. Persepolis is held in the NFSA collection.
