Fascinated by an exchange of personals ads between the enigmatic Susan (Madonna) and her lover, languishing housewife Roberta Glass (Rosanna Arquette) indulges her curiosity and heads to one of their New York City rendezvous. Things go awry when Roberta wakes up with amnesia and Susan’s jacket in the chaos of a city and a life very different to her own.
