TWO OF AUSTRALIA’S LEADING DIRECTORS – JOCELYN MOORHOUSE (The Dressmaker) AND P.J. HOGAN (Muriel’s Wedding) - JOIN US AT ARC FOR FILMMAKER Q&A.
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) presents the ACT premiere of its digital restoration of the award-winning Australian film Proof (1991) on Friday 2 December. All box office proceeds from this screening will go towards the NFSA Restores program, to digitally restore and preserve more Australian classic and cult films.
Director Jocelyn Moorhouse and her husband and filmmaking partner P.J. Hogan will participate in a Q&A after the film.
Jocelyn Moorhouse said: ‘I can’t wait for Canberrans to see Proof back on the big screen, and experience this beautiful, pristine restoration. I love the film, it is one of my own kids in a way. My feelings have only grown fonder.’
The restoration of Proof was partially funded with donations from the Australian public. More funds for NFSA Restores will translate into more restorations.
Proof premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1991, and launched the careers of Russell Crowe, Hugo Weaving and director Jocelyn Moorhouse (The Dressmaker). It dominated the Australian Film Institute (AFI) Awards winning best film, director, lead actor, supporting actor, screenplay and editing.
