This TEN Eyewitness News item examines the vexed issue of video game classifications. Prior to 2011 a R18+ classification did not exist and a number of games such as Left 4 Dead 2, Alien vs. Predator and Mortal Kombat were initially banned in Australia. In 2011 an agreement was reached between state Attorneys-General to create an R18+ rating. Many games previously refused classification could now be sold. The date of introducing the classification was later changed to the beginning of 2013. However, games can still be refused classification if their content does not meet the R18+ standards.
