
Graham Kennedy wins the prestigious 1974 Gold Logie award for the most popular personality on Australian television, for his evening variety show, The Graham Kennedy Show (1972-1973). The award is presented to Graham by Italian film actress and international star, Gina Lollobrigida.
Also on the podium are veteran Logies host and popular Channel Nine TV personality, Bert Newton; fellow 1974 Gold Logie recipient, Pat McDonald; and Logie assistant, Rosemary Margan. Pat McDonald was the first soap opera actress to win the award, for her role as gossip Dorrie Evans in Network 10’s Number 96 (1972-78).
Australia’s TV Week Logie awards celebrate achievements on Australian television voted by viewers through the TV Week magazine. The 16th TV Week Logie awards were held at Melbourne’s Southern Cross Hotel on 8 March 1974 and were telecast by Channel 9.
