This newsreel covers a traffic jam caused by electric tram wires in Melbourne in the 1920s.
This silent clip is a good example of building separate elements of an event to create an overall picture. The camera films the crowds, the stalled tram (from different angles), the fused electric wiring, and the tracks in the road. In this way, the viewer is provided with small pieces of visual information that combine to describe the whole incident.
