Dangerous Women was the American remake of Prisoner, running for 52 episodes from 1 August 1991 to 1 January 1992. The opening credits are inspired by those of Prisoner's pilot episode, contrasting the main prisoners’ lives before gaol (in colour), with their mug shots (in black and white).
The original Prisoner aired in parts of the United States in the early 1980s, with some success. This American re-imagining was planned following the success of Prisoner in the UK in the late 1980s.
Dangerous Women aired on syndication in markets such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington D.C., but it was cancelled after 52 episodes. It was not released on VHS/DVD, and it is not available on any streaming services.
