Annotated copy of the Marcus Clarke novel, For the Term of His Natural Life, belonging to American director Norman D. Dawn.
Dawn used the novel to prepare the script for the 1927 film. I was given to him by Marion Marion Marcus Clarke, who, besides playing mother to the hero of this film, was the daughter of the author.
The handwritten note from Dawn reads, "Original very old copy of "Term" given me by Marian Marcus Clarke when I first read about it. I usedc this to prepare a script but also carried it around in my raincoat pocket - and often went over it while I worked."
