Denise Drysdale began her TV career at the tender age of 10 years old as a junior ballet dancer on GTV 9 in Melbourne.
By the time she was 17, Drysdale's star was on the rise. She had worked as a dancer on the popular variety show In Melbourne Tonight and music show Kommotion.
Drysdale then performed in episode 117 of The Go!! Show in 1966 and, in the same year, came third in a popular vote for best female vocalist among readers of music magazine Go Set.
You can watch Denise Drysdale's appearances on The Go!! Show – performing the 1965 Fontella Bass song 'Rescue Me' and then the Martha and the Vandellas 1964 hit 'Dancing in the Street'.
You can also jump forward to the mid-1970s and see Drysdale win gold in this excerpt from the 1975 TV Week Logie Awards. Presenting her with the award were Australian TV stalwart Bert Newton and visiting Hollywood guest star, John Wayne.
