Wilfrid Thomas interviews Hugh Hefner, c1970.
WILFRID THOMAS: Mr Hefner, what persuaded you to leave your bed in Chicago and come out of (to) the smog?
HUGH HEFNER: I thought it was time to take a vacation and see another part of the world. So we’re spending a month in Europe and Africa...
WT: And do you think that your idea of a permissive society has been overtaken by recent developments?
HH: Well I think that it’s obviously a far more permissive society today and that in some areas, Playboy probably is in a rather curious position today of seeming rather old fashioned and in other areas seeming rather avant garde.
