Today, we’d call Skippy a multi-hyphenate as she was a film and TV star, musician and influencer. Here she is, even championing financial literacy among Australian children! This money tin, when full, would have been taken to the nearest branch of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney Limited, and the contents credited to a CBC Savings Account. The depositor would have been given a new money box in exchange. Skippy's other achievements, aside from being a beloved television star, included playing drums with Australian band The Executives, placing a bet on a racehorse named Wallaby Bill, and starring in the feature film Skippy and the Intruders (1969). This money tin reflects Skippy's enormous popularity and cultural impact, but is also a reminder of the long-gone CBC Bank, which merged with the National Bank of Australasia to form National Australia Bank in 1982.
