Billed as 'the first Japanese road movie in Australia’, the 2004 feature film Bondi Tsunami was inspired by Japanese surf culture in Australia. This prop is part of an eccentric kawaii (cute) plush toy collection cherished by Kimiko (played by Miki Sasaki), the ex-girlfriend of the protagonist and surf-obsessed Shark (Taki Abe).

Bondi Tsunami is a stand-out example of a micro-budget independent Australian film, which offers a fresh perspective on road movies and surfing culture and has built a cult following. The incongruity of seeing a wombat on skis adds to the appeal of this charming prop.
