This well-used Second World War-era tin was once filled with Minties – the beloved Australian confectionery. It features cartoons that evolved from the hugely successful ‘Minties moments’ marketing campaign. Consumers loved the bonus cartoon on the wrappers depicting ‘mishaps of life’ by well-known and notable illustrators including James Bancks (creator of the cartoon character Ginger Meggs), Norman Hetherington (the artist behind Mr Squiggle) and Syd Miller, who drew the Chesty Bond artwork. Minties, as well as popular chocolates like Fantales and Jaffas, were once just as integral to a Saturday movie matinee as the pre-show cartoon and the usher who patrolled the aisles.
