Did you know that Australians eat more than 30 million kg of pasta per year?

While Italy is the undisputed home of pasta, Australians have embraced this versatile dish and added their own unique twists and variations – spaghetti, macaroni, penne, linguine, and maybe even Ausaroni?

In this 1985 clip from Simon Townsend's Wonder World!, reporter Brett Clements visits a local pasta factory that has quite literally put Australia's pasta obsession on the map.

Brett shows how pasta is made from semolina flour and then cut into the various shapes and sizes we're so familiar with (sadly, last we checked, there is no Ausaroni on the supermarket shelves just yet).
