Catching Milat: Bodies found

A psychological thriller and procedural drama, Catching Milat is a dramatised version of the story of the investigation into the 1990s New South Wales backpacker murders that led to the arrest and conviction of serial killer Ivan Milat. It was directed by Peter Andrikidis and based on the book Sins of the Brother by Mark Whittaker and Les Kennedy.

At the start of this clip, we learn that two young women – British backpackers – have been missing for four months, and their parents have flown to Australia to appeal to the public during a police press conference. We then see two teenage boys make a grisly discovery while running through a forest. 

Police facing a hostile media, unsuspecting passers-by uncovering a crime scene and forensic experts getting down to business –while these are all familiar storytelling devices, Andrikidis has cleverly cut these together, married with an intense soundtrack, to build suspense and tension.
