An excerpt from the documentary Roller Derby Dolls (Phoebe Hart, 2008).
In the sprawling outer suburbs of Brisbane, a group of women from all walks of life are resurrecting the lost sport of full-contact roller derby in Australia.
Despite having no prior business experience, the women have set up a roller derby league, one of 220 now dotted around the globe. Led by their president Evil Doll, these women are rebels, misfits, rockabillies and punks – but together on the rink, they are a team.
Roller Derby Dolls is a story of female friendship and of women with a dream – the dream of inspiring other women in Australia to strap on the skates and give the sport a go.
