Though most radio clubs were established by the broadcasters, Fox Studios had its own organisation, the ‘Fox Movietone Radio Club' (renamed ‘Fox-Hoyts’).
Originally associated with 2UW, the club established chapters across Australia, affiliated with stations 3UZ, 4BC, 4MK, 5KA and 6ML.
This scrapbook contains voluminous quantities of club correspondence, memorabilia and press clippings.
The range of invitations included – for film screenings, but also picnics, dances, charity collections and sporting matches – attests to the enormous scope of the club’s activities.
The club strived to retain members not only by satisfying as many of their interests as possible, but providing them a complete social network.
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia acknowledges Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live and gives respect to their Elders both past and present.
