Excerpt from an oral history interview with Broderick Smith (1948-2023).
Born in Hertfordshire in England, Broderick's family eventually settled in St Albans, a Melbourne suburb. That was where he started playing in bands and discovered blues and rock’n’roll, as he explains in this excerpt from his NFSA Oral History interview with Graham Dodsworth in 2010.
Broderick went on to success with the blues boogie band Carson in the early 1970s, country rock band The Dingoes in the mid-late 70s and the rock band Broderick Smith’s Big Combo in the early 1980s.
