The new family car has broken down only a few miles from home after a pleasant outing. Unable to fix it, they are forced to push their car the rest of the way. This dissolves into a picture of ‘today’ (1953) and an identical group are sitting in the garden. A car horn sounds and the two women rush across the lawn to meet the arrival of their new car. The man wakes suddenly as if he’s putting the brakes on an old car. In a scene which parallels an earlier part of the film, the family and friends inspect their new 1950s Jaguar.
