'Yellow Lemon' performed by Little Pattie

1966

  • NFSA ID742540
  • Year1966

This rare Japanese-only release features Little Pattie performing songs in Japanese, making it one of the earliest examples of a major Australian recording artist singing in the language. Written by leading Japanese composers, including Dan Kosaku (Ikehata Naoaki), the songs highlight a cross-cultural link between Australian surf music and Japanese popular music. Around the mid-1960s, Little Pattie toured Japan alongside Col Joye, The Joy Boys, and Julie Stone, among the first Australian pop artists to do so, all of whom released records in Japan. The sleeve features striking images of Little Pattie in a kimono and bamboo forest setting.
