Love is a Beatutiful Song was the 1977 album recorded by Malaysian-born Australian entertainer Kamahl, one of the true legends of the local entertainment industry. It was released 10 years after his debut album, A Voice to Remember (1967). Kamahl went on to record 30 more albums. In the 50 years after his first performance in 1958, Kamahl has been a leading figure in music and television. He has released music worldwide – including his 1975 single ‘The Elephant Song’, which reached No. 1 in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Kamahl first appeared on television in 1959 and became one of our best-known TV identities. He was a regular guest on the popular variety show Hey Hey It’s Saturday, although in 2009 he acknowledged that he felt humiliated by racial stereotyping in some of the skits in which he appeared. The show’s host, Daryl Somers, later apologised. In 2005, Kamahl appeared as a judge on The X-Factor. His other notable television appearances included Spicks and Specks, The Chaser’s War on Everything and Young Talent Time.
