This clip from Footballer Wants a Wife reflects the web comedy's send-up of both footballer stereotypes and the reality TV format. Featuring the shaky cam, 'expert' sessions and confessional interviews that were characteristic of popular reality dating shows, the series pushes the footballer characters through a reality television staple: the makeover!

Except the makeover isn't cosmetic; it’s a 12-step program to help them reconnect with their emotions. Scenes of the footballers pouring out their (seemingly limited) feelings to a 'resident self-help guru' reflect the series' satirical but affectionate tone. Stereotypes of footballers as repressed, materialistic lunkheads with Dickensian childhoods are contrasted with an inner sweetness, reflecting the appeal of reality TV cast members.

This clip also features Ra Chapman, who later wrote and performed in the ABC show White Fever.
