This clip from the first episode of Meta Runner shows Tari waking up in the cyberpunk Silica City, a society that has obsessively built its identity around video games. Familiar aesthetics from modern gaming are reflected in the vivid animation, an unseen narrator and a montage of in-universe gameplay, introducing us to a plane that feels virtual and unreal. That is, until a stylistic shift launches us into Tari's intense moment of panic.

Through layered camera work and voice acting, the clip reflects a sharp awareness of audiovisual media in contemporary digital culture. The pleasant, distant tones of an explainer video can suddenly become threatening and personal, while the seemingly objective camera grows shaky, expressing Tari's first-person confusion over her new cybernetic limbs.

Glitch Productions, the studio behind Meta Runner, was founded by Thai-Australian brothers Kevin and Luke Lerdwichagul and grew out of Luke’s early YouTube series, SuperMarioGlitchy4 (later SMG4). Now they produce animated content across platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Discord.
