Australia's 150th Anniversary Celebrations, Sydney: From the sheep's back to bicycles (1938)

1938

This clip from a home movie taken by Dr Ewan Murray-Will shows part of the parade in Sydney to celebrate Australia’s 150th anniversary of white settlement. It begins with a float celebrating the wool industry. This is followed by various floats including a Burke and Wills float, a float with a ship that could have been the Dunbar which was shipwrecked off Sydney Harbour in 1853, a float with giant flannel flowers, convicts, a horse and carriage, a steam train, a tram and bicycles.

The footage is from one angle and simply records some of the official parade celebrating Australia’s 150th anniversary. Dr Ewan Murray-Will has used in-camera edits where the camera is simply off and on again.
