Sing along to beloved classics from this iconic musical, including ‘The Hills are Alive’, ‘My Favourite Things’, ‘Edelweiss’ and the timeless ‘Climb Every Mountain’, just to name a few!
Set in Austria on the eve of the Anschluss of 1938, The Sound of Music tells the story of novice Maria Rainer (Julie Andrews) who becomes governess to the children of Captain Georg von Trapp (Christopher Plummer). Maria’s warmth and music reshape von Trapp’s rigid household and romance blossoms between Maria and the Captain. Set during political unrest, the film is based on the successful Broadway play of the same name. The Sound of Music balances joy with unease, pairing exuberant song with a story of moral courage and chosen family.
The Sound of Music was the last musical written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.
‘A film whose emotional sincerity explains its enduring hold on audiences.’ - Bosley Crowther, The New York Times
