POINTE: Dancing on a Knife's Edge + Q&A 03 May, 2026

2025 | DCP | AUS | D: Dawn Jackson

Presented in collaboration with Ausdance ACT for Australian Dance Week.

A powerful documentary focusing on the life of Floeur Alder, the daughter of renowned ballet dancers Lucette Aldous and Alan Alder. Floeur’s European dance career is dramatically interrupted following a random knife attack while living in Perth.

POINTE pulls back the curtain on elite ballet dancers as they push their bodies to extremes revealing the physical and emotional demands hidden behind classical ballet. The film balances rehearsal-room intimacy with performance spectacle, examining ambition, injury and endurance.

POINTE offers a portrait of artistry forged under pressure and explores trauma, resilience and the transformative power of creativity.

‘An unsparing look at the cost of perfection beneath ballet’s elegance.’- Luke Buckmaster, The Guardian Australia
