1986 | DCP | USA | D: Jim Henson

When 16-year-old Sarah wishes her baby brother Toby away, she braves a fantastical labyrinth ruled by the enigmatic Goblin King, Jareth (David Bowie), to find him. Encountering strange allies and testing trials, Sarah’s journey becomes one of responsibility and self-discovery.

Inspired by The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland, the film uses pioneering CGI to create realistic animal characters to life. Labyrinth blends puppetry, music and fantasy spectacle, reflecting Jim Henson’s belief in imagination as a space for growth. It has earned lasting affection as a cult classic, bridging childhood wonder and adolescent awakening.

‘A film whose imagination outweighs its narrative logic, and whose strangeness is its lasting charm.’ - Kim Newman, Empire
