Mandarin / English, English subtitles

Interwoven stories of warriors, lovers and thieves unfold across breathtaking landscapes in 18th century Imperial China.

Two master warriors, Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-fat) and Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh), face their greatest challenge when the treasured Green Destiny sword is stolen. Suppressed emotions prove as dangerous as combat.

Based on the novel of the same name by Wang Dulu, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon balances lyrical action with romantic longing. The film’s grace lies in its tension between freedom and restraint, using martial arts not just as spectacle but as emotional expression.

‘A film of astonishing beauty and aching emotional clarity.’ - Anthony Lane, The New Yorker
