Australian naval officer John Ingram (Sam Neill) leaves his wife Rae (Nicole Kidman) in charge on their yacht Saracen, while he investigates the stricken schooner Orpheus.

While Hughie (Billy Zane) plays with the dog on deck, Rae (Nicole Kidman) discovers via radar and radio that her husband John (Sam Neill) is still alive.
