The year before the start of the new millennium saw commemorations for the 30th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission.

We are sharing footage of the July 1969 Apollo 11 mission from 1969 and also from news clips marking the 20th and 30th anniversaries of the Moon landing in 1989 and 1999.

A rare copy of the restored original TV broadcast of the July 1969 Apollo 11 Moon landing, previously given by NASA to the CSIRO, will now be preserved at the NFSA.

The Apollo 11 crew participated in a number of press conferences before the launch.
