Throughout her prolific music career Winifred broke numerous records; she was the first black person to have a number one hit on the UK Singles Chart and is currently the only female instrumentalist to have achieved this. Winifred was also the first female pianist awarded the Royal Academy of Music’s highest grading for musicianship.
