The sun rises from the darkness, its yellow and red falling across the country. An elder in voice-over speaks of his experience of working in a cemetery. As he speaks, he is pouring concrete. He is making a monument. He firmly places a plaque on the monument, and cleans off its edges.

  • The purpose of the story of Mowla Bluff massacre begins to conclude with the construction of a memorial to the murdered. The importance of remembering those who are murdered is very much to do with healing. In the rescuing of the deceased from the silence of forgotten history, the people of Mowla Bluff have kept their memories alive and sacred. The need to pass on these stories to the young so that they are not forgotten is about honouring the dead, and providing a space for healing.
