Thank God It’s Friday at the Zoo hit Australian screens in 1978, riding the final wave of the disco craze. Set against a massive themed backdrop, the show mixed DJs, live musical performances and unpredictable chaos. Guests included John Paul Young, Stylus, Sherbet and even notorious fugitive Ronald Biggs, who appeared via phone from Brazil. This clip showcases an acrobatic dance routine by resident dancers Angy and the Zoo Connection. Despite its energy, disco fever was already fading, and the series was cancelled after just six episodes. Only one preview tape survives, a glittering, chaotic time capsule of disco’s last dance.
