Super International Cricket is a cricket video game and a sequel to the 1992 title International Cricket. Developed for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the game built on its predecessor, offering more sophisticated and varied features.
From this gameplay recording, viewers can see how the thoughtful game design led to a satisfying experience for cricket fans: player stats, bowling speeds, control over running and timing, and different types of delivery are all built into an immersive, unpredictable game. Realistic cricket rules were applied, along with the Australian scoring system rather than the international one.
The game marks the growing popularity of sports video games in Australia and abroad. With the dearth of cricket-oriented games, due to the supremacy of football and baseball overseas, Super International Cricket filled a gap in the Australian market by offering an authentic simulation of play. Despite not having official teams and player licensing, it included eight international teams: Sri Lanka, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, India, Pakistan and the West Indies.
Created by Australian developer Beam Software and released in 1994, this gameplay clip was recorded in 2024.
