CURATOR'S NOTES

The group are gathered around a large free-standing microphone, for the Associated Programmes Charity Broadcast in the studios of ARC (Australian Record Company). Leigh, Finch and Olivier are holding scripts. Photo taken by Terry Gibson of Coogee. A broadcast known as The Oliviers Farewell Australia or Farewell to the Oliviers was broadcast on 5 September 1948 with compere Peter Finch. The broadcast was produced by Kimball S Sant and recorded in the ARC studios; it was organised by Colin Scrimgeour with the cooperation of the British Council and DD O'Connor who brought the Old Vic Theatre Company to Australia for a six-month tour. Sydney John Kay was the composer and musical director of the program.
