This poster of popular R&B act Kulcha shows the group several years after they burst onto the Australian music scene in 1994. With roots in both Australia and Aotearoa and composed of members of Samoan and Māori descent, the group brought a fresh and powerful voice to the genre. They notably broke down barriers to Polynesian representation and success in the 1990s.

Kulcha’s self-titled debut album, featuring the Top 10 hit ‘Shaka Jam’, earned ARIA nominations and Gold certification. Proudly representing their culture, Kulcha often wore lava-lavas in music videos and stayed true to their Pacific Islander heritage while embracing a smooth, global R&B sound. They performed alongside international stars like Janet Jackson and Boyz II Men, proving their appeal reached far beyond local shores.
