This film recounts a day in the life of two First Nations families living a nomadic existence in the Gibson Desert in the 1960s. Djagamara and his family are filmed at their campsite beside a plentiful supply of water in an otherwise dry creek bed at Badjar in the Clutterbuck Hills. The filmmakers travel with Minma and his family from Warburton Mission back to their country to record how they had lived until just a few months before.

In this extraordinary documentary, part of an extensive film series titled PEOPLE OF THE AUSTRALIAN WESTERN DESERT, First Nations families share their traditional knowledge.

An Australian National Film Board Production. Produced by the Australian Commonwealth Film Unit for the Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies. © National Film and Sound Archive of Australia.
