After the Second World War, the Australian Government encouraged migrants from Britain, former Allied countries and European displacement camps to settle in Australia in large numbers. Seeking to boost migration for economic growth, the government provided the new arrivals with education and training and initially directed where they should live and work. This short documentary frames the program as offering new migrants security while obtaining needed skills and a larger workforce for Australia.
