This excerpt from a Cinesound Review newsreel from 1954 is a great example of the perennial upbeat Christmas story.

It is interesting to see how the tradition of children meeting with Santa at department stores and malls has changed over time.

Here in the 1950s the children sit on Santa's lap and one child even kisses Santa on the lips after he asks if she loves him – a sight that would horrify parents and alert authorities today.
