Aerobics Oz Style: Right here, right now

Aerobics Oz Style: Right here, right now

1997

  • NFSA ID366500
  • Year1997

In this opening clip from Aerobics Oz Style, backed by a dance track with a 'right here, right now' refrain, instructors lead a high-energy workout against scenic Sydney backdrops. The upbeat music, sunny locations, bright clothing, saturated colours and smiling instructors moving in sync are all techniques that conspire to get you moving. Aerobics Oz Style, which encouraged Australians to exercise from their living rooms, began in 1982, the same year Jane Fonda launched her series of phenomenally successful Workout exercise videos. The Australian series is notable for airing over 4,500 episodes on Network Ten and later the Seven Network, making it a fixture of daily television for three decades until it was cancelled in 2005. The show targeted a predominantly adult female audience but many children also watched it, often reluctantly, as they waited for their morning cartoons. Thanks to its longevity, Aerobics Oz Style significantly contributed to promoting fitness and healthy living across Australia.
