Thousands of classic European film stills and portraits from the beginning of cinema to the 1930s are now preserved at the NFSA.

A postwar migrant from Austria, Hans Joseph Carlsson Taussig (1907-1989) developed the collection during his early career in film and journalism in Europe. Hans Taussig donated his collection of early film-related photographs to the National Film Library, the forerunner to the NFSA, more than 60 years ago.
