This clip shows a group of club members assembled on the steps of the main building and then showing their skills at teeing off (some merely performing practice swings). Curiously the main gate designated the site as Heidelberg Golf Links rather than Golf Club. The major difference between a links course and a parkland course is that it is far less manicured. Links courses are more wild and natural, and are mostly, but not necessarily, found on coastlines. The other curious feature of this clip is the ceremonial raising of the United Kingdom's national flag. The Australian flag was was chosen in 1901 from entries in a competition held following Federation and was first flown in Melbourne in the same year. For some reason, the members of the club decided to fly the Union Jack instead.
