This newsreel looks nostalgically at the history of Fort Denison, a fortified island in Sydney Harbour, and its place in Sydney’s military and cultural heritage.
This clip illustrates examples the stonework of the fort, the Martello Tower, and the firing of one of the fort’s guns. The cells of the fort are used to store gunpowder.
Fort Denison’s round stone Martello Tower was one of the last Martello Towers to be built in the then British Empire.
