This is an excerpt from a Ten Eyewitness News story from 27 June 1977 about ethnic language station Radio 2EA in Sydney. It includes footage of a Turkish radio broadcast at 2EA.

At the time of the story, 2EA was broadcasting in 31 different languages, but its future budget was unclear. Federal Cabinet was soon to consider how the station should be funded and operated.

The Australian Government announced in October 1977 the formation of the Special Broadcasting Service, a new independent statutory authority for ethnic broadcasting.
