Harradine reports

Indexed lists of NFSA files tabled in parliament every 6 months to improve transparency of government operations.

In line with the Senate Continuing Order, the National Film and Sound Archive publishes a 6-monthly indexed list of files created by the agency.

This initiative supports public access to government information and helps increase transparency.

On 14 November 1994, the Senate agreed to a motion by Senator Harradine requiring all Australian Government departments and agencies to produce an indexed list of files every 6 months for tabling before parliament.

The Order was amended in 1998 to require departments to also list these files online.

This is intended to make government operations more transparent to the Australian public.
